OUR COACHES
Brad Hess
Brad Hess grew up in Castle Dale, Utah, and started wrestling when he was 8 years old. He graduated from Emery High School and eventually made it to Weber State University and started studying to be a P.E. teacher and wrestling coach.
His life led him in a different direction until the fall of 2022 when he became the head wrestling coach of both the boy's and girl's wrestling teams at Weber High School.
One of Coach Hess' main points of focus is on being a champion. This doesn't mean winning, this means acting like a champion at all times, working hard, and giving it your all regardless of the score. If you see him, ask about the Champion's Coin
Jack Briskey
Jack, has been a part of the Weber wrestling program for nearly 40 years. He is one of the best coaches ever to enter the Weber wrestling room.
Jack is very knowledgeable in the sport and is also the best motivator! The Team (girls especially) refer to him as G-Pa.
You can usually find him in the wrestling crowd wearing his fancy cowboy hat and boots. We are lucky to have his knowledge and kindness on our team.
Elene Hess
Elene is the spouse of the Head Coach, Brad Hess. She grew up in Pleasant View, Utah and graduated from Weber High School. She grew up on the side of the wrestling mat, being a cheerleader for her older brother and later cheering on his sons. Being a life-long dancer, she tried to get her 3 boys in the dance world, but wrestling took over when her oldest started high school at Weber High. Since then she has been very involved with the parents group, organizing that side of things. We are very excited to have her join us as a coach this year. Her experience as a dance instructor and athlete will be utilized with boys and girls team.
Jacob Guynes
Jacob Guynes grew up in Dove Creek, CO, and began wrestling at 3 years old. His senior year he took second place at the CO state championship with the team winning the state championship. Jacob then went on to wrestle in college at the Colorado School of Mines throughout his four years.
The 2024/2025 season is Jacob's first year of coaching and he is excited to do so. Working hard, being respectful, and learning solid technique is Jacob's primary focus in his role as assistant coach with the belief that you'll learn a lot more about life beyond wrestling from this sport.
